Sligo appoint management teams for 2012

Sligo GAA have announced their management teams for 2012, with Kevin Walsh set to continue at the helm of the Yeats County Senior Footballers.

Galway native Walsh was reappointed at a meeting of the Sligo County Board last night with Tourlestrane's Anthony Brennan and Tommy Breheny of St.Mary's ratified as Under 21 and Minor managers respectively.

Sligo Chairman Cyril Feehily thanked the interview panel who worked on the u21 and Minor vacancies and expressed his gratitude to the Club representatives for their unanimous endorsement of the three managers.

"This County Board has put a strong Management team in place at all grades" he said.

Feehily also added that it was the executive's desire to have the managerial appointments agreed in plenty of time to give them ample opportunity to plan their campaigns and assess the talent available to them.

"The lack of success in the Minor and under 21 grades has to be addressed and I hope that these appointments and their timing will go some way towards achieving better results" he said.

Walsh took the Senior reigns in November 2008, and while Senior Championship honours eluded his side, Sligo captured Division 3 National League silverware in 2010.

Later that year Walsh guided Sligo to a first Junior All-Ireland title since 1935, thanks to victory over Kerry in the decider at Semple Stadium.
