Down include McCartan and Mooney

Gerard McCartan and Caolan Mooney will start for Down in their All-Ireland SFC third round qualifier against Antrim at Casement Park (throw-in 7pm).

McCartan, who has been troubled by an ankle injury this summer, slots into the half-back line in place of Kevin Duffin.

There is one other personnel change from the 1-16 to 1-8 victory over Leitrim last weekend, with teenager starlet Mooney returning at wing forward.

In a rearranged attacking unit, Paul McComiskey is the player to make way. Benny Coulter and Martin Clarke, who hit 1-9 between them against Leitrim, have been moved into the full-forward line.

Mark Poland reverts to centre-forward, but positional changes can be expected on the night. James McCartan might also be able to introduce Danny Hughes off the bench depending on his fitness.

This is Down's first Championship clash with Antrim since 2000 when the Saffrons won an Ulster quarter-final by 0-13 to 1-7. It was Antrim's first SFC win over Down since 1970.

If McCartan's men prevail tomorrow, they will go on to meet reigning champions Cork in a repeat of last year's All-Ireland final.

DOWN (SFC v Antrim): Brendan McVeigh; Aidan Brannigan, Dan Gordon, Brendan McArdle; Conor Garvey, Kevin McKernan, Gerard McCartan; Declan Rooney, Kalum King; Caolan Mooney, Mark Poland, Liam Doyle; Conor Laverty, Benny Coulter, Martin Clarke.
