Conor Garvey has been drafted into the Down team for tomorrow's All-Ireland SFC second round qualifier against Leitrim in Newry (throw-in 3pm).

Garvey has been troubled by a hamstring injury this summer but is fit to start at right half-back, as an indirect replacement for recent debutant Caolan Mooney.

Down boss James McCartan has made a number of positional switches to the side that struggled to see off Clare in the last round.

Garvey played for 35 minutes in Down's challenge match win over Roscommon last week. He joins Kevin McKernan and Kevin Duffin in the half-backs, with Declan Rooney pushed into midfield to link up with Kalum King.

Centre-forward Martin Clarke will be flanked by Liam Doyle and Benny Coulter in the half-forwards, and Mark Poland is now stationed at top of the left.

Down are hoping to repeat their journey through the 'back door' route from last year when they went on a winning run through to the All-Ireland final.

DOWN (SFC v Leitrim): Brendan McVeigh; Aiden Brannigan, Dan Gordon, Brendan McArdle; Conor Garvey, Kevin McKernan, Kevin Duffin; Declan Rooney, Kalum King; Liam Doyle, Martin Clarke, Benny Coulter; Conor Laverty, Paul McComiskey, Mark Poland.
