The draw for the third phase of the All-Ireland SHC qualifiers took place this evening at Croke Park.
The winners of the phase I and phase II matches were drawn out of the bowls by GAA President Elect Liam O’Neill and TV3 co-commentator Nicky English.
Antrim, who retained the Ulster SHC title today, will meet a Limerick side buoyed by yesterday’s home triumph over Wexford.
Donal O’Grady’s Shannonsiders were 4-15 to 0-15 winners over Antrim during the final round of Allianz Hurling League Division 2 in April.
The second third phase game is a mouth-watering clash between Cork and Galway.
The Tribesmen beat Cork 1-19 to 0-15 in Thurles when the sides met at this stage of the 2009 All-Ireland Championship. The previous year, Cork were two-point winners of their qualifier meeting at the same venue.
The Rebels also beat Galway on a 1-20 to 1-17 scoreline during the early stages of their Division 1 campaign in March.
The victorious teams from phase III will advance to the All-Ireland quarter-finals on July 24, where beaten Leinster finalists Dublin and either Tipperary or Waterford await.
The venues and throw-in times for the third phase fixtures, which are scheduled for next Saturday, will be confirmed by the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee tomorrow.
