Galvin doubtful for SFC clash

Lynchpin midfielder John Galvin is rated doubtful for Limerick's Munster SFC semi-final against either Kerry or Tipperary on Saturday, June 4.

Galvin sustained a worrying knee injury in last Sunday's challenge match against Down and is awaiting the results of an MRI scan.

Limerick manager Maurice Horan told the Irish Examiner: "He can't put any weight on his leg at the moment so it's a fairly serious injury in terms of the time until we play Championship.

"He just went over on it in a collision with a player in a challenge match. A player hit him on the inside of his leg and forced his leg out."

Fortunately for Galvin, who was nominated for an All-Star award last year, it is unlikely that he suffered cruciate damage in the incident.

"We don't think it's the cruciate. The guy who did the scan didn't think it was cruciate because of the things he was able to do with his knee," added Horan.

Meanwhile, Stephen Lucey should be fit to line out for Limerick in the provincial semi-final. The defender is responding well to treatment on a shoulder problem.
