Skehill and Wade return to Galway panel
Galway hurling manager John McIntyre has added goalkeeper James Skehill and forward Kerril Wade to his training panel ahead of this summer's Championship.
Skehill, who was released from the squad last December, is recalled at the expense of Athenry net minder John Grealish.
David Hayes, Niall Cahalan, Joseph Cooney and Brian Murphy will also have to work their way back into the Tribesmen's current set-up, having been let go.
It is full steam ahead for McIntyre's charges who endured a disappointing finish to the Allianz Hurling League when they lost their final two games to Tipperary and Waterford.
With no club matches scheduled for the weekend, the Galway players are training five times this week. The next round of club fixtures, over the weekend of May 21 and 22, will give the players 'an opportunity to make a claim' according to McIntyre.
Wade's inclusion comes on the back of some excellent displays for his club Sarsfields. His last Championship outing for Galway was against Laois in an All-Ireland SHC qualifier in July 2008.
Another talented forward, former All-Ireland minor winner James Regan, is also training with the Galway seniors following a good run of form with club side St. Thomas.
Galway will enter this year's Leinster Championship at the quarter-final stage, facing the winners of the Carlow v Westmeath tie on Saturday, June 4.
