Semi-finals beckon for South Down and Warwickshire

Warwickshire and South Down advanced to the semi-finals of the Lory Meagher Cup following this afternoon's quarter-final action.

A strong first-half display laid the foundations for Warwickshire's 4-08 to 1-10 win over Fermanagh at Brewster Park in Enniskillen.

The Exiles led by 2-05 to 0-04 at half-time, with Desmond Kelly netting the visitors' opening goal from a penalty in the 14th minute.

Fermanagh responded on the restart thanks to a Ryan Bogue penalty goal, but a brace of second half goals from Reamonn McEntee ensured a seven-point Warwickshire victory.

At Liatroim in County Down, hosts South Down recorded a hard-earned 2-14 to 1-14 triumph over Longford.

Eoin McGuinness slammed home both goals for the the hosts, while Eoin Donnellan registered Longford's lone goal of the contest.
