Skoda confirmed as Tipperary GAA sponsors

Car manufacturers Skoda Ireland have been officially announced as the new sponsors of Tipperary GAA.

The sponsorship agreement is for a three-year team, with Skoda investing approximately €200,000 into the Premier County set-up annually.

Skoda and Tipperary GAA unveiled the county's new 2011 jersey at Croke Park today.

All-Ireland SHC winners Eoin Kelly, Brendan Cummins, Padraic Maher and Conor O'Mahony and footballers Paul Fitzgerald, George Hannigan, Brian Mulvihill and Hugh Coghlan were all in attendance.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Tipperary County Board chairman Barry O'Brien said: "The Tipperary County Board is delighted to be able to announce this sponsorship deal with Skoda Ireland. An innovative and challenging car marque, Skoda will bring a new dynamic to the promotion of Tipperary GAA both within and outside of the county.

"The Skoda brand name will adorn all our county jerseys from minor to senior in both hurling and football. We are looking forward to working with our new partners."

Skoda replace local business Enfer Scientific who had sponsored Tipperary sides since 2002. The Enfer name adorned the Tipp jerseys when they won the All-Ireland senior and U-21 titles last September.

Skoda Ireland's marketing manager Ray Leddy added: "The opportunity to become the sponsorship partner with Tipperary GAA was simply too good to turn down. A powerhouse in hurling, Tipperary teams have always played with a style and passion that can be appreciated by all sports fans.

"We see tremendous potential in the current Tipperary teams, including the footballers who have been building solid foundations at Ur-21 level over the last number of years."

The new Tipperary jersey will be worn by the footballers against Kerry in their Munster SFC quarter-final on Sunday, May 22.

A week later, the Declan Ryan-managed hurlers will be in action against Cork in the Munster Hurling Championship.
