National Football League Division 4 round-up

Wicklow continued their unbeaten run, while their were wins also for Leitrim and Roscommon in Allianz Football League Division 4 this afternoon.

Tony Hannon scored a hat-trick of goals for in-form Wicklow as they claimed a comfortable 4-16 to 1-05 victory over Kilkenny at Castlecomer.

Wicklow full-back Stephen Kelly was shown a straight red card in the 32nd minute following an off-the-ball incident.

Hannon struck Wicklow's opening goal after just two-and-a-half minutes, but David Garvey's fisted effort for Kilkenny just left four points between the sides in the 25th minute.

A second Hannon goal gave the visitors a 2-08 to 1-03 lead at the break, and Seanie Furlong added another goal just after the restart.

Kilkenny had points from JJ Dunphy and Graham Lawlor in the opening 10 minutes of the half, but they were held scoreless after that. Hannon added his third goal nine minutes from time.

Senan Kilbride made his return from All-Ireland club action with St. Brigid's to help Roscommon gain a 0-16 to 1-10 win over Clare in Ennis.

Kilbride, Shine and Cathal Cregg were impressive as the visitors held a 0-07 to 0-03 lead after 21 minutes' play.

Roscommon kept hold of their four-point advantage for half-time, but Clare made a strong start to the second half.

The Banner men claimed the opening two points and following Gary Brennan's 50th-minute goal, just two points separated the sides on a 0-13 to 1-08 scoreline.

However, Clare were guilty of some poor wides in the second half as Roscommon held out for a three-point win.

Meanwhile, Leitrim mustered their third win of the campaign thanks to a slender 0-11 to 0-10 defeat of Fermanagh in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Fermanagh were 0-07 to 0-01 ahead at half-time and extended their advantage to seven points inside two minutes of the restart.

Leitrim's lone score of the opening half was an Emlyn Mulligan free in the 17th minute, and the half-forward added three further pointed frees in the second period.

Fermanagh were reduced to 14 men when Kevin Cosgrove received a second yellow card. That came after a Conor Beirne point and a brace of Mulligan scores had cut the deficit to 0-08 to 0-04.

Leitrim continued to perform strongly in the closing quarter with a Wayne McKeon point squaring things up, approaching injury time.

Conor Kelly crucially edged Leitrim in front with his second point, and Fermanagh's efforts when unrewarded when they missed a close range free late on.
