Tubridy kicks Clare to easy victory

Clare 5-10 London 0-4

David Tubridy was in outstanding form as Clare romped to a facile 21-point victory over London in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League.

London played with the aid of a stiff wind in the opening half in Cusack Park, but Clare showed great determination from the off.

A fisted goal from Alan Clohessy, in the sixth minute, gave the hosts the early initiative and they failed to look back.

A David Tubridy free helped open up a 1-2 to 0-0 lead after 20 minutes, with London keeping in touch thanks to a hat-trick of frees from Eoin O'Neill.

Gary Brennan punched to the Exiles' net to give Clare a 2-2 to 0-3 advantage on the half hour mark. A further Tubridy point ensured a six-point advantage for the Banner at the break.

Clare's dominance was such that they could afford 10 wides in the opening 35 minutes.

Michael McDermott's side ran rampant on the restart as they held London to just one point and made full use of the strong wind at their backs.

Clohessy landed Clare's first point of the second period before Tubridy scored 2-2 without reply as his side took a 4-6 to 0-3 lead entering the final quarter.

Tubridy completed his hat-trick in the closing stages. Galway native O'Neill scored London's only second half point with the last kick of the game, two minutes into injury-time.
