South Down and Fermanagh produced away wins, and fellow Ulster side Tyrone were also victorious on the opening day of actio in Allianz NHL Division 4.

At Pearse Park, South Down were in impressive form as they recorded a 2-17 to 1-10 win over Longford.

The sides were tied at 1-07 to 0-10 at half-time, with Seamus Hannon netting the Longford goal. But this was as good as it got for Longford, who were held to just three points on the restart.

South Down kept the hosts' defence under constant pressure, with Paul McAleenan and Kevin Courtney claiming their goals.

Meanwhile, Fermanagh raced to a 8-23 to 1-08 victory over Cavan on the 3G pitch at Kingspan Breffni Park.

Sean Corrigan netted four goals for the Erne County side, with Francie McBrien and Brendan McGarry among the other goal scorers.

Rory O'Donnell's charges were in total control over the 70 minutes and led by 4-10 to 0-07 at the half-time break.

At Healy Park in Omagh, Tyrone's hurlers got the better of Leitrim on a 2-19 to 0-09 scoreline.
