Meath qualify for Kehoe Cup decider

Meath withstood a determined second half comeback by GMIT to book a Kehoe Cup final spot at Trim this afternoon.

Following a evenly-balanced opening half, the sides were tied at 0-9 apiece at the break. But the hosts stole a march on the restart.

Nicky Horan led the charge with 11 points for the Royals. Joey Keenan (0-4), Ger O'Neill (0-3) and Paudge Geoghan (0-1) were the other Meath scorers.

Meath led by four points late on, before a goal from Offaly's Colin Egan (1-2) helped the students cut the deficit to a point.

However, Meath stood firm to progress through to next weekend's final, in which they will face either Wicklow or DCU who meet in Arklow tomorrow.

Kenny Feeney (0-3), Ger Mahon, Donagh Maher, Aidan Lynch, Ronan Madden (0-2 each), Luke Hands and Niall Mannion (0-1 each) were the other GMIT scorers.
