Derek Heavin has launched a scathing attack on GAA authorities after the Westmeath player was forced to announce his retirement from senior inter-county football earlier this week.

Heavin was stretchered off the pitch at Croke Park during his county's Leinster SFC semi-final defeat to Louth last summer with a fractured fibia, while also tearing both cruciate ligaments in his knee.
