Counihan puts faith in unchanged side

Cork will field an unchanged team for Saturday’s All-Ireland SFC fourth round qualifier against Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds (throw-in 7pm).

For the third successive game, manager Conor Counihan has selected the same fifteen players - the only difference for the trip to the Treaty city being the swapping of jerseys between team captain Graham Canty and his defensive colleague Michael Shields.

Canty, who will wear the number 6 shirt this weekend, moved to the centre-back position as Cork's 0-12 to 0-5 win over Wexford got underway last Saturday, while Shields reverted to full-back.

The likes of Paul Kerrigan and Nicholas Murphy, who were used as substitutes at Wexford Park, have been kept in reserve once again.

This is the fifth successive year that Cork and Limerick have met in the Championship, with the Rebels winning all four previous games.

Cork are bidding to reach the last-eight of the All-Ireland Championship for the sixth successive season.

Limerick put it up to Kerry in the recent Munster final, and Counihan knows that his side are set for a stiff test of their Championship credentials.

"It's obviously a very tough draw for us. They've had a few weeks since the Munster final to recover and will be up for it," he said.

"Everyone saw how close they ran Kerry and anyone who can do that has to be a serious challenge."
