Tipperary bring in two newcomers for Wexford clash
Right half-back David Young and left half-forward Patrick Maher will make their Championship debuts for Tipperary in tomorrow's All-Ireland SHC phase 1 qualifier against Wexford at Semple Stadium (throw-in 3.30pm).
Gearoid Ryan from the Templederry Kenyons club will also make his first Championship start at right-half forward, having come on as a late substitute in Tipp's 3-15 to 0-14 Munster quarter-final defeat to Cork.
In all, Tipp manager Liam Sheedy has made four changes to the team that was overwhelmed by the Rebels, with the other alteration seeing Conor O'Brien return at left corner back.
Paddy Stapleton and Paul Curran, who are both injured, Brian O'Meara (suspended) and John O'Brien are the players to lose out.
The Premier County side will line out with Declan Fanning at full-back and Lar Corbett at full-forward, and another positional switch sees Noel McGrath pencilled in at right corner forward.
Sheedy's men showed decent form in beating Munster rivals Waterford by 2-25 to 1-23 in a challenge match in Thurles last week. Noel McGrath and Patrick Maher, who were introduced as substitutes, were the goal scorers.
TIPPERARY (SHC v Wexford): B Cummins; M Cahill, D Fanning, C O'Brien; D Young, C O'Mahony, P Maher; B Maher, S McGrath; G Ryan, S Callanan, P Maher; N McGrath, L Corbett, E Kelly (capt).
