Donegal secure Lory Meagher Cup victory

Donegal, who finished second from bottom in Division 3B of the National Hurling League earlier in the season recorded a 3-13 to 1-15 win over Longford in Letterkenny in Round One of the Lory Meagher Cup this afternoon.

Despite playing poorly, they were fully deserving of the win here and had Danny Cullen at centre forward in inspirational form.

Goals by right half forward Enda McDermott, Lee Henderson and Michael McGhee were the goalscorers for Donegal, while centre forward Danny Cullen notched 10 points.

Goalkeeper Paul O’Brien was another who stood out in the win, thwarting a number of Longford efforts.

Elsewhere, the exiles from Warwickshire scored a facile 2-17 to 1-8 win over Fermanagh at Solihull today, whilst Leitrim edged out South Down 1-13 to 1-12.
