The Westmeath footballers' interim manager Pat Flanagan has been handed mixed news ahead of the start of their Championship campaign.

Long-serving goalkeeper Gary Connaughton has emerged as an injury doubt for the Lakesiders, but, in a significant boost, former All-Star Dessie Dolan is set to return to the panel this week.
