The Model County are bracing themselves for a stern test against the Cats, last year’s All-Ireland finalists who are also bidding for their first league title since 2008.

Wexford, defending league champions, have displayed tremendous scoring power this season hitting four goals against Cork in the league semi-final while Kilkenny came from behind to defeat Galway by a goal.

Speaking at the Captain’s Photocall at the Maldron Hotel in Dublin city centre, Wexford skipper Una Leacy admitted her side faced a formidable challenge but were relishing the prospect of playing their fiercest rivals.

The opportunity of a double for the county was additional motivation.

In the Division Two encounter All-Ireland Junior champions Offaly are bidding for their second national title in six months and under the stewardship of former Offaly hurler, Joachim Kelly, will be keen to continue their unbeaten run.

Wexford, led by captain Ciara O’Connor, have experience in abundance and will hope to use this to their ultimate advantage.
