A Leitrim footballer is in a serious condition in hospital after being seriously injured in a freak accident during a GAA game on Saturday.

Philip Mc Guinness - who has been part of the Leitrim panel for the last seven years - is said to be in a critical condition at Dublin's Beaumont Hospital.

The 26-year-old was playing a game for his home club Mohill - against Melvin Gael - when the accident happened.
