Deise swap goalkeepers for Salthill trip

Impressed by what he saw during last weekend's 13-point defeat of Dublin, Waterford manager Davy Fitzgerald has made just one change to the team for Sunday's NHL Division 1 clash with Galway at Pearse Stadium (throw-in 2.30pm).

Ballyduff Upper clubman Adrian Power will wear the Deise's number 1 jersey, replacing experienced net minder Clinton Hennessy for the TG4-televised game.

Fitzgerald is keeping his players' feet on the ground after the 4-13 to 0-12 dismissal of Dublin in their league opener, during which De La Salle clubman Kevin Moran starred - hitting 1-5.

The victory was achieved without the likes of Tony Browne, Dan Shanahan, John Mullane and Ken McGrath (all rested) and suspended duo Eoin Kelly and Eoin McGrath.

Speaking after last Sunday's win at Walsh Park, Fitzgerald said: "I liked the spirit of the lads. Their fight. You saw that today. That's what we're about.

"We'll keep trying to improve, because there's a long way to go. I think maybe Dublin thought we were missing a lot of players, maybe took their eye off the ball a small bit. But we got the result we wanted, and that's great.

"We have every reason to be pleased with the way things have gone to date, but no one is being carried away, least of all myself.

"Yes, it will be great to have all of the players available for selection but believe me no one will be selected on reputation.

"Current form will be the deciding factor in who starts and who does not, and in that regard it will be a level playing field for every member of the panel," he added.
