Late Sherry goal the decider for Fermanagh
Fermanagh 2-6 Roscommon 0-11
NFL DIVISION 3
James Sherry cracked home a late goal to decide tonight's NFL Division 3 clash at Brewster Park in Fermanagh's favour.
Fermanagh manager Malachy O'Rourke said his side deservedly won out due to the 'sheer persistence and fighting to the end' that they displayed.
They certainly had to do it the hard way as Donie Shine registered six second half points for a determined Roscommon outfit.
At the end of a lacklustre first half, the sides were level at 0-4 apiece with the Rossies having taken the early initiative.
The second period saw the quality of football improve, and Ryan Carson's 41st-minute goal edged the Ernesiders ahead.
Carson did well to tuck the ball away after his first shot had bounced back off the crossbar.
Roscommon, who were heavily beaten by Cavan last weekend, plugged away and suffered late heartbreak when Sherry's goal gave Fermanagh the verdict by the minimum.
