Dublin manager to escape suspension

Dublin senior football manager Pat Gilroy is likely to escape a suspension for his involvement in a sideline altercation with Meath full-back James Macken during Wednesday's O'Byrne Cup replay at Navan.

The Royals defender and the Dublin boss became entangled after Gilroy tried to issue instructions to his full-forward Colin Daly.

Macken had pursued Daly towards the sideline in the 18th minute with photographs showing Gilroy raising his arm to try and fend off the Rathkenny clubman.

However Gilroy is unlikely to face any suspension as referee Pat Fox consulted with his linesmen at the time, and subsequently issued yellow cards to Macken and Daly.

TV3 cameras were present at the ground for the match, should the Leinster Council seek to review footage of the incident and see if anyone has a case to answer.

Dublin's next game is their Allianz National Football League opener against Kerry on Sunday week in Killarney.
