Meath have beaten Mayo by 2-15 to 1-15 in today's All Ireland Football quarter-final at Croke Park.

The Royal County will now play Kerry in the semi-finals.

Mayo got off to a bright start and put the Meath players under intense pressure when they had the ball, but a goal from David Bray meant the Royals led as they went into the break.

Mayo introduced Conor Mortimer in the second half as they tried to assert their authority, and the Mayo substitute levelled the match for a fifth time with his first score.

The second half came alive in the space of two minutes when Aidan O'Shea fisted the ball past Meath keeper Paddy O’Rourke and David Bray was adjudged to have been fouled in the Mayo box, Cian Ward stepping up to convert the penalty.

Meath began to get the upper hand and took a five-point lead thanks to six unanswered points, and while the Mortimer brothers slotted over two late points for Mayo, Meath hung on to book a semi-final spot against Kerry.
