Walsh to continue as Sligo manager
After a successful first year in charge, Kevin Walsh has been reappointed as Sligo's senior football manager with County Board chaiman John Murphy already looking forward to 'a productive and exciting 2010.'
Walsh, the former All-Ireland-winning Galway midfielder, guided the Yeats men to promotion from National League Division 3 this season and they also won the Division 4 final, beating Antrim by two points.
Sligo lost to Walsh's native Galway in the semi-finals of the Connacht Championship last month, but they beat Tipperary in the qualifiers and came within two points of doing the same to Kerry.
A statement from Sligo GAA read: "The Executive of Sligo GAA County Board have endorsed the reappointment of their senior football management team - manager Kevin Walsh along with selectors Paul Durcan (Curry), Paul Taylor (Eastern Harps) and Dessie Sloyan (Easkey) for another year.
"The formalities were concluded last evening, following a meeting in Sligo of the Executive."
County Board Chairman John Murphy said that he was pleased that the situation had been clarified quickly following this year's 'most successful campaign' and that he looked forward to a productive and exciting 2010 both for the management, players and supporters.
