Injuries mount for Galway hurlers

Galway senior hurling manager John McIntyre has been dealt a major blow ahead of this weekend's Phase 3 qualifier clash against Cork, with the news that defender Adrian Cullinane has been ruled out for the remainder of the All-Ireland Championship.

The Craughwell wing-back was substituted in the 52nd minute of last Saturday's qualifier victory over Clare in Ennis. Later scans revealed that the defender had suffered cruciate knee ligament damage.

Cullinane has become a fixture in the Galway team over the past two years and news of the seriousness of his injury is a major blow to the Tribesmen ahead of their crucial clash with the Rebels in Thurles.

Meanwhile, there is a doubt over whether or not team captain Ollie Canning will line out for Galway this Saturday.

The Portumna defender exited the field in the 49th minute of last Saturday's 10-point win over Clare due to blurred vision.
