Kildare through to Leinster minor final

A storming second half display earned Kildare a place in the ESB Leinster Minor Football Championship final, after the Lilywhites over came a five-point deficit to beat Meath at Pairc Tailteann this afternoon.

Meath stormed out of the blocks and led by 0-05 to 0-02 at the interval, with Sean Tobin kicking three points for the Royals.

Kildare kept in touch thanks to the efforts of Paul Cribbin and Darach Mulhall, with Mulhall also missing a 29th-minute penalty for the visitors.

A brace of scores from Tobin and substitute Mark O'Sullivan pushed Meath five points clear on the restart.

But Kildare staged a strong comeback, with a 44th minute goal from Mulhall, and they went in front for the first time as the fourth quarter approached.

Emmet Boyle edged Meath back within a point of Kildare with two minutes remaining, but a late Conor Devereux goal effort blazed wide of the posts as Meath crashed out and Kildare progressed to a Leinster final against either Dublin or Offaly on July 12.
