Ring, Rackard and Meagher Cups to get triple-header at Croke Park

Non-Liam McCarthy hurling counties have got their wish with the news that the Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher Cup finals will take place at Croke Park on July 11.

Last year there was some disquiet over Carlow and Westmeath's Christy Ring Cup decider being pencilled in on a Friday evening at Croke Park.

The game eventually took place the following Sunday evening at O'Connor Park, Tullamore - with Carlow claiming an extra-time victory over Westmeath.

The reigning champions have already qualified for this year's final, with Down their opponents in a game which is set for a 4pm throw-in on July 11 at Croke Park.

Meanwhile the Nicky Rackard Final will have a 2pm start at Croke Park.

The finalists will be known after this weekend, with Meath-Armagh and London-Fingal the semi-final pairings next Saturday.

A bumper Saturday afternoon of hurling on July 11 will kick-start with the Lory Meagher Cup decider at 12 noon. The finalists will be known after next weekend, with both semi-finals down for decision.

At Pairc Esler, Newry, South Down will host Donegal, while the venue for the other semi-final between Tyrone and Longford has yet to be confirmed.

Both semi-finals will have 3.30pm throw-ins next Saturday.
