Tipperary 2-22 Cork 0-25 (After Extra-time)

Senior stars Seamus Callanan and Pa Bourke were very much to the fore as Tipperary edged an extra-time battle, played in front of 4,138 at Semple Stadium, Thurles tonight to qualify for the semi-finals of the Bord Gais Energy Munster Under 21 Hurling Championship.

Bourke and Callanan bagged 1-15 between them with the latter slotting over two crucial points in extra-time.

In ideal weather conditions the sides were level on 13 occasions in normal time, including eight times in the first half.

The opening half was a battle of the free-takers with Bourke and Patrick Horgan amassing 11 points between them, with Bourke edging the scoring.

It was a 30th minute Shane Bourke goal which separated the sides at the break. The hosts holding a 1-8 to 0-9 interval advantage.

A four point blitz from Cork inside seven minutes of the restart had Tipperary on the back foot but a Bourke 38th minute penalty goal edged his side in front.

A quartet of unanswered points from the Rebels saw John Considine's charges break in front for the first time late on, with substitutes Padraig Gould and Luke O'Farrell (2), along with McLoughlin on target.

However the sides were level on five occasions in the closing ten minutes, with both Bourke and Brian Corry having chances to take the lead in injury-time, but neither side could find the match winning score.

Tipperary edged in front by 2-18 to 0-23 in the first period of extra-time due to good work by Seamus Callanan, with Cork free-taker supreme Patrick Horgan keeping the Rebels in touch.

However Tipperary weren't to be denied a place in the last eight with Callanan and Pa Bourke continuing their tour de force on the restart as the Premier County booked a semi-final spot.
