It was a 30th minute Shane Bourke goal which separated the sides at the break. The hosts holding a 1-8 to 0-9 interval advantage.
A four point blitz from Cork inside seven minutes of the restart had Tipperary on the back foot but a Bourke 38th minute penalty goal edged his side in front.
