Brennan to transfer power to Cooney

Outgoing GAA president Nicky Brennan will hand the reigns of power to Christy Cooney at this weekend's annual congress in Cork.

Delegates will debate a motion from the Clare County Board to discuss future policy on Croke Park.

The GAA's headquarters have been open to use on a temporary basis to the IRFU and FAI since 2005 and Clare wish for Central Council to retain the option to open stadium to outside business in the right circumstances.

Incoming president Christy Cooney was against the change to Rule 42, but said it has been beneficial to the association.

And the experimental rules will also be discussed, with a recent GPA survey showing that 82% of players are against them being retained for the Championship.

A two-thirds majority is required for any change.
