Wexford overwhelm disappointing Down
Down 0-12 Wexford 2-19, Ballygalget
Wexford kept the pressure on Allianz NHL Division 2 leaders Offaly by overwhelming a disappointing Down side at Ballygalget this afternoon.
Goals in each half from Stephen Banville and Andrew Shore drove the Model men, who face Offaly next weekend, to their fourth win in five league games.
Banville found the net in the 28th-minute as the visitors turned around with a 1-12 to 0-2 lead.
Down had midfielder Andy Savage yellow carded in the second period and never looked like getting close, despite an improved display after the break.
The Mourne men, who face a key game against Carlow in the next round, are still sixth in the table on two points, one ahead of relegation rivals Westmeath and two clear of Kerry.
