Walsh is new Cork hurling boss

Former Cork dual star Denis Walsh has been chosen as the Rebels' new hurling manager, it was announced tonight.

Walsh was chosen to take up the role by the three-man committee appointed by GAA Central Council in the wake of the acrimonious resignation of Gerald McCarthy.

The committee was comprised of former Cork hurlers Denis Coughlan (Chairman), Jimmy Barry Murphy and John Fenton.

Walsh is a former All Ireland medal winner with Cork in both hurling and football.

A member of the St Catherine’s club, he previously managed the Waterford Senior football team and has also managed successfully at club level with his own club.
