Armagh edge close contest

Fermanagh 0-10 Armagh 0-11

Tonight's Ulster derby in Allianz NFL Division 2 went the way of Armagh as attacking ace Steven McDonnell helped them edge past Fermanagh.

McDonnell landed five points in the opening half as the Orchard men turned around with a 0-5 to 0-4 interval lead.

Fermanagh had started strongly with Shane O'Brien kicking a brace of scores.

But losing Marty McGrath, Hugh Brady and Shane Lyons to yellow cards did not help the hosts' cause and Armagh, who also had McDonnell and Martin O'Rourke yellow carded, were able to keep ahead.

Second-half points from Ryan Henderson, Ronan Clarke, Stefan Forker, McDonnell and Peadar Toal saw Armagh to their second win of the campaign.

Fermanagh were suffered their third defeat in four league games and they would have been further behind at the finish had Armagh's Aidan O'Rourke not missed a penalty.
