There were mixed results on Saturday afternoon for Kilkenny Schools in hurling and camogie finals action, as Colaiste Mhuire Johnstown, Callan C.S and Wexford side Good Counsel claimed victories.

In the Leinster Senior A Colleges hurling final, Wexford outfit Good Counsel edged Castlecomer C.S by 1-13 to 2-8 at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny.

At O’Moore Park, Portlaoise a 64th-minute point from captain Daniel Dermody ensured reigning All-Ireland champions Coláiste Mhuire, Johnstown accounted for Banagher College, Offaly by 1-11 to 1-10 in the Leinster Senior A Vocational Schools hurling final.

A Damien McLoughlin 27th minute goal for Banagher College ensured a 1-5 to 0-8 interval scoreline and although Banagher broke three points clear on the restart, Johnstown finished strongly to register victory.

Meanwhile St Brigid’s College, Callan claimed back-to-back All-Ireland Senior A Camogie schools titles thanks to a 1-11 to 1-6 win over Portumna Community School in the decider.

A Denise Gaule free was crashed to the back of the Portumna net in the final quarter to propel the eventual winners to a 1-8 to 1-6 advantage.
