Offaly teach Carlow a lesson

Offaly 1-17 Carlow 0-6

In sunny conditions in Tullamore, Offaly maintained their lead at the top of Allianz NHL Division 2 as they gave neighbours Carlow a 14-point hammering.

Offaly had the wind at their backs in the opening half and they raced ahead following a third-minute point from top scorer Shane Dooley.

Dooley was a regular scorer through the game, landing a succession of frees as Carlow's indiscipline left them further and further behind on the scoreboard.

Dooley also collected the Faithfuls' only goal, nine minutes in, after being set up by Derek Molloy.

Ruairi Dunbar was Carlow's only scorer in the first half as they trailed by 1-11 to 0-1 at half-time.

Molloy, Daniel Currams, Dooley and Joe Bergin, who all scored in the opening 35 minutes, added to their tallies after the break as Offaly eased to their third league win on the trot.
