Antrim 4-16 Wexford 4-12

Antrim's hurlers showed great determination and no end of skill to fight back from nine points down and beat Wexford in a thrilling Allianz NHL Division 2 tie at Casement Park.

The Saffrons, who beat Down last time out, were staring at their first league defeat - having leaked first half goals to Wexford's Stephen Doyle, Eoin Quigley and Diarmuid Lyng (2).

The Ulster champions actually took an early lead thanks to a major from PJ O'Connell but Wexford began to dominate around the middle of the pitch and their attackers clinically finished off their scoring chances.

Wexford were 4-6 to 2-9 to the good at the interval, with the hosts' second goal coming from Kieran Kelly.

The previously unbeaten Model county side almost put the game beyond Antrim's reach but home goalkeeper Ryan McGarry pulled off two superb saves from point-blank range.

They also had a goal ruled out for a square ball and then suddenly, Antrim were right back in contention.

The hosts scored two goals in as many minutes through Brendan Herron and Neil McManus (penalty).

A stunned Wexford failed to response as manager Colm Bonnar would have desired and Antrim pulled clear with the outstanding Herron claiming the game's final point.
