Waterford side De La Salle showed their resilience as they pulled clear of Antrim challengers Cushendall in extra-time at Parnell Park to qualify for their first ever AIB All-Ireland Club SHC final.

The Munster champions trailed by 1-13 to 1-11 at the end of an absorbing hour's play but injury-time points from Stephen Daniels and Brian Phelan (from a sideline cut) ensured two periods of extra-time.

Shane McNaughton had goaled for the Ulster title holders, while Dean Twomey registered De La Salle's three-pointer.

With Neil McManus impressing, Cushendall tried their best to keep on terms in extra-time but they were handicapped by Declan McKillop's 44th-minute dismissal.

In the end, Phelan and John Mullane powered tireless De La Salle through to the St. Patrick's Day decider.
