Down withstood a strong second half display from Tipperary to take a hard earned win at Semple Stadium.

Ross Carr’s charges may have began sluggishly as the long journey South took its toll, but the Mournemen really got going in the second half after the sides were level at 0-07 apiece at the interval

John Fegan (0-05) top-scored for Down with the visitors in outstanding form in the second half despite Tipperary hanging on.

Barry Grogan (0-6 – all frees) and substitutes Damien O’Brien and Kieran Mulryan were best for Tipperary.
