Clare beat brave Carlow
Clare 0-12 Carlow 0-10
One of the most closely contested games across all four divisions took place at Dr. Cullen Park in Carlow as Clare edged the hosts by two points.
Carlow broke 0-4 to 0-2 clear by the 12th minute following a Mark Carpenter score, however the teams were inseparable in the opening half and were level at 0-4 apiece at the interval.
Points from David Russell and David Tubridy for the visitors were the equalising scores.
Russell and substitute Cathal O’Connor ensured Clare broke in front on the restart and although Carlow tried hard through the likes of Carpenter and John Murphy they were unable to get on top.
Russell and Tubridy were the tormentors in chief as Carlow battled bravely, and a last gasp Johnny Kavanagh point was too late, as Clare took a two-point win.
