Roscommon overcome Offaly

Beaten FBD League finalists Roscommon bounced back well to record a convincing nine-point victory over Offaly on home-soil at Kiltoom in NFL Division 3.

Fergal O’Donnell’s charges were very eager to impress early on and quickly raced into a 0-05 to 0-0 lead despite Offaly playing with the wind.

By the 18th minute Ger Heneghan had kicked three points from frees, with Offaly amassing five wides in the opening quarter.

Ruairi Allen opened the Offaly account with a point but Roscommon rallied until the break with a trio of points to ensure an 0-08 to 0-03 interval lead.

Offaly goalkeeper Alan Mulhall pulled off an excellent save on the restart from a Conor Devaney goal shot, to keep the visitors in contention.

Roscommon weren’t to be denied victory and were fully deserving of their nine-point win.
