Wexford lucky to beat UCD

Wexford saw off a stiff challenge from UCD in testing conditions in the Walsh Cup at Ferns.

Diarmuid Lyng (0-05) top-scored for the hosts, as his side booked a semi-final date with Galway.

Wexford were comfortably ahead by 0-13 to 0-04 at half-time but could only manage seven points on the restart as UCD seized the initiative.

A goal from Kilkenny's David Lyng brought the students back into contention, but Wexford showed great resolve to hold out for a hard-earned victory.
