DCU 2-08 Kildare 0-11, Newbridge

DCU will become the first college side to contest an O'Byrne Cup final after producing an upset against Kildare today.

Minus key Mayo forward Conor Mortimer, the north Dublin university nosed ahead at Newbridge with Martin McElroy notching an early goal.

But Kildare regained control and took an 0-08 to 1-03 half-time advantage.

James Kavanagh and Michael Conway (0-03 each) led the hosts' scoring but a yellow card for Ronan Sweeney coupled with a Luke Sweetman goal for DCU ended Kildare's interest in the competition.
