Galway take win in historic Walsh Cup tie
Offaly 2-10 Galway 1-17
History was made this afternoon at Tullamore's O'Connor Park as the Galway senior hurlers played in a Leinster competition for the first time.
Aongus Callanan's eighth-minute goal set the Tribesmen on the way to qualifying for the Walsh Cup semi-finals in John McIntyre's first match in charge.
Offaly, whom McIntyre managed twice, were 1-10 to 1-03 in arrears at half-time.
Joe Bergin and Shane Dooley goaled for Offaly either side of half-time but late points from substitute Kevin Hynes and Adrian Cullinane saw Galway through.
