NUIG secure league win over Mayo

NUIG 2-10 Mayo 1-08, Dangan

A strong first half display helped NUIG secure a Connacht FBD League win over Mayo at Dangan.

The students started strongly with Cathal McHugh netting in the opening seconds

Barry Kelly and Peadar Gardiner kept Mayo in touch with points, but a goal from Cathal Devaney gave NUIG a 2-04 to 1-03 half-time lead.

Both sides kept their defensive composure in the second half and were equally matched. John O'Mahony continued to experiment but NUIG had the confidence and poise to remain in front.
