Deserved win for Wicklow against Carlow

Wicklow secured a deserved win over neighbours Carlow in ideal conditions at Blessington.

A determined Wicklow held Carlow scoreless in the opening 20 minutes, as an early John McGrath goal powered them to a 1-03 to 0-00 lead.

Carlow responded well thanks to a JJ Smith goal and point from Brian Murphy (0-05), but Wicklow held out for a 1-06 to 1-01 half-time buffer.

The hosts sealed the victory with a late goal from Alan Nolan and will face Dublin at Parnell Park next Sunday.
