Cork footballers to boycott medal ceremony

The latest stand-off in Cork GAA appears to have escalated to a new level.

In an apparent show of solidarity with the hurling panel, the Cork football squad has announced that it will boycott the presentation of the 2008 Munster Championship medals.

The hurlers are continuing to refuse to play under reappointed manager Gerald McCarthy.

However, McCarthy is believed to be pressing ahead with plans to play a trial game on Sunday week.
