Cork hurlers threaten strike over McCarthy appointment

The Cork senior hurling squad have said they will not play under Gerald McCarthy, making strike action in the Rebel county a distinct possibility for the second time in a year.

All-Ireland winning skipper Ben O’Connor confirmed the strike threat and claimed that younger players received unwelcome phone calls advising them to return to the panel or “it wouldn’t look good for them for the future”.
