Comerford facing two-month lay-off
The sole disappointment emanating from the Kilkenny dressing room after last Sunday's GAA All-Ireland SHC victory over Waterford was the injury sustained by Martin Comerford, which may leave him on the sidelines for more than two months.
The right-half forward had to be replaced 43 minutes into the SHC final at Croke Park, and it has emerged that the cause was a fractured tibia.
Comerford, who captained the Cats in 2004, won his fifth All-Ireland senior medal at the weekend but the broken bone he sustained in his left leg will take some of the gloss off the success.
The 29-year-old is expected to be sidelined for at least two months, meaning O'Loughlin Gaels will have to make do without him for the Kilkenny club championship.
