The Munster under-21 hurling final has ended in controversy, with Tipperary clinching victory over Clare thanks to a contentious last-minute free.

There were angry scenes after referee Jason O'Mahony awarded the free to the Premier County four minutes into injury time.

He made the decision after cancelling an earlier decision to award Clare a close-range free at the other end of the pitch.

The decision led to Tipperary claiming the title for the 19th time on a 1-16 to 2-12 scoreline.
