Limerick select side for Meath tie

James Ryan and Ger Collins have been promoted to the Limerick team for Saturday's GAA All-Ireland SFC first round qualifier against Meath at the Gaelic Grounds, throw-in 7pm.

Mickey Ned O'Sullivan, the Shannonsiders' boss, has made two changes to the side that lined out in last month's agonising Munster semi-final defeat to Cork.

Two late goals from Daniel Goulding and Graham Canty saw Limerick dumped out of the provincial race.

From that team, John Cooke and Kieran O'Callaghan make way with Ryan listed at centre-forward and Collins set for action at left corner-forward.

One of the changes is injury-enforced as O'Callaghan, the team captain, is not risked after sustaining a leg injury in a recent challenge match against Wexford.

Both Cooke and O'Callaghan will be options for O'Sullivan off the substitutes bench, but versatile defender Tom Cahill remains sidelined with a hand injury.

Limerick lost at home to Louth in the first round of last year's qualifiers and this weekend they will face a Meath side that will be determined to rekindle their 2007 form.

The Royals won through all three rounds of last year's qualifiers and beat Tyrone in a tight quarter-final before losing to Cork at the penultimate stage.

LIMERICK (SFC v Meath) - S Kiely; D Carroll, J McCarthy, S Gallagher; P Browne, S Lavin, P Ranahan; J Donovan, J Galvin; S Kelly, J Ryan, S Buckley; G Collins, M Crowley, I Ryan.
