Dubs delay team selection

Dublin manager Paul Caffrey has delayed his team announcement for Sunday's Leinster SFC final against Wexford by 48 hours.

A statement from the Dublin Co Board confirmed that "the Dublin senior footballers have delayed naming their team but hope to do so after training on Thursday night."

Caffrey has a number of selection issues to iron out ahead of the game, with much of the pre-match focus on how Colin Moran's hearing with the Disputes Resolution Authority goes.

As it stands, Moran is suspended for Sunday's game after he picked up a four-week ban for 'dangerous play' during the Leinster semi-final between Dublin and Westmeath on June 29.

If his DRA hearing is unsuccessful, Moran's place in the Dublin defence is expected to go to either Paul Casey or Kilmacud Crokes clubman Kevin Nolan.

There could be switches at full-back and wing forward after Ross McConnell and Paul Flynn put in poor displays in those positions against Westmeath.

With young attacker Bernard Brogan nursing a hamstring injury, Diarmuid Connolly, one of St. Vincent's All-Ireland-winning heroes, could also be added to the team.

After a cameo role as a substitute against Westmeath, Ciaran Whelan should gain a start in midfield alongside Shane Ryan, with newcomer Eamonn Fennell dropping to the bench.
